Kitchen island in Minéralis Calacatta Oro Statuario

Kitchen countertop: Minéralis quartz or ceramic

The countertop is the hardest-working surface in the kitchen. Cutting, heat, stains: here is how to choose between Minéralis, which replaces quartz, and large-format ceramic.

Minéralis

The mineral composite surface that keeps quartz performance: resistance to scratches, impacts and stains, a stone-like touch, deep veining. Its composition includes 86% recycled glass with a low silica content, and every slab is guaranteed for 20 years.

  • Heat resistance up to 180 °C
  • Water absorption below 0.05%
  • 17 colours, from statuary white to sandy shades

Ceramic

Large-format porcelain stoneware withstands contact with very hot cookware and fears neither scratches nor UV. Its non-porous surface cleans with soapy water, with no periodic treatment. Also ideal as a matching splashback.

  • Non-porous, hygienic surface
  • 13 colours, from calacattas to deep blacks
  • Large format for continuous worktops and splashbacks

Frequently asked questions

Minéralis or ceramic for a kitchen countertop?

Both resist scratches, stains and daily use. Minéralis offers the touch and look of quartz surfaces with a composition of 86% recycled glass and a 20-year warranty. Ceramic tolerates direct contact with very hot dishes and also suits splashbacks. The choice comes down to the desired finish and the project.

Can you put a hot dish on a Minéralis countertop?

Minéralis withstands heat up to 180 °C. As with any quartz or composite surface, a trivet remains recommended for dishes fresh out of the oven.

How do you care for a Minéralis countertop?

A soft cloth and clear water are enough day to day. Avoid washing-up liquid and greasy products, which leave a film on the surface. For stubborn stains, use white vinegar diluted to 10% at most, then rinse.

What are the slab dimensions?

Minéralis slabs measure 3200 x 1600 mm, a large format that covers most worktops and islands with a minimum of joints.
